Gunnari Auvinen has built an engineering career focused on developing software systems, modernizing technology, and solving complex technical challenges. His professional background began in electrical and computer engineering before he transitioned into software engineering in 2014. Gunnari Auvinen’s software engineering career has included roles at Sonian, Turo, and Labviva, where he has worked across full-stack development, software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
During his time at Turo, Gunnari Auvinen worked on projects involving application modernization, engineering platforms, caching infrastructure, APIs, and development pipelines. Since joining Labviva in 2020, he has contributed to system architecture and the development of production services while participating in code reviews, system design sessions, technical interviews, and knowledge sharing. His work has included building software capable of processing and analyzing large volumes of scientific data.
Gunnari Auvinen’s interests outside engineering reflect a mix of active and creative pursuits. He enjoys weightlifting and hiking, as well as cooking and discovering good coffee. In his downtime, he plays board and video games and follows anime. He also volunteers each month with Rice Sticks & Tea, a local food pantry program. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science in electrical and computer engineering.
